Yulia Vershinina-Mukhopadhyay is an award-winning pianist, an avid ensemble player, and a passionate teacher and mentor based in London. She was born in Russia, raised in Belgium and trained as a musician in the United Kingdom.
She started performing internationally after winning the 1st prize at the Steinway Piano Competition in Hamburg in 2003. At 16, Yulia had her debut performance at Carnegie Hall, New York. She has since performed throughout Europe and the United States.
Yulia has been fortunate to collaborate with outstanding musicians. She has performed alongside Peter Cropper, participated in the Britten Pears Chamber Music Festival with her former ensemble Trio Mise-en-Scène and her debut album with Duo Vershinina/Lee received glowing reviews in the BBC Music Magazine, the American Record Guide, and on BBC Radio 3.
Creator of The Fulfilled Musician course and a certified mental health first aider, Yulia leads monthly free workshops and offers one-to-one mentoring sessions for professional musicians.
A believer in the transcendental power of music and its ability to help us feel more empathy and embrace our shared humanity, Yulia feels that in our increasingly polarised world, music is the key to a kinder and fairer society.
